A Real Irish Colleen

Hey everyone,

I don’t blog nearly enough about my lovely Brides. The lovely girls who I have the pleasure of making up, for the biggest most glamourous day of their lives. I need to start updating this more and more with some of the looks and makeup, to share with you.

So meet Colleen, one of my gorgeous Brides from April from Co. Kerry:

Colleen had booked me so far in advance ( April 2010) I was so excited to meet her and her mom when they came for their trial earlier this year. Colleen is a natural beauty with FANTASTIC eyebrows and the most beautiful eyes. I know she was going to amazing. Colleen loves makeup too, so we had great fun.  The morning of her wedding was a breeze, down in Castlemaine Co. Kerry. It was a full house with 4 bridesmaids also. As usual I had my camera in hand and took some pics below.

Colleen’s base was a nice natural warm tone and I kept the empasis for her eyes.  Using a a nice sweep of black liquid liner and very gently using earthy tones for her eyes.  She has gorgeous big eyes so I wanted to focus on that.   Nice dewy cheeks and highlighted and contoured her face matched with a natural pink lip = Classic and timeless.

I love the colour of the bridesmaid dresses, they suited each of the girls perfectly.  Came the makeup nice and natural – again bringing out the eye colour and leaving the skin with a dewy spring finish!

Big congrats again to Colleen and Eddie.

Tangerine?

I know I blogged a good year or so back about Tango lippy, but it seems that this Spring/Summer the tangerine/orange lippy is making its way back in trend again. I know it seems like a really hard colour for any woman to wear and it definatley would not be the first colour I myself would even go to, but here some celebs show how easy it can be.

Brooklyn Decker

Solange, not so sharp a colour here on her lips. Try MAC Tendertone lipbalm in Flurry

Jennifer Hudson adds a nice splash colour

I LOVE coral or tangerine colours on redheaded ladies, here Cristina Hendricks flaunts it!

Ciara

If you dare – Illamasqua in FLARE.

Perfect Nude

I know its been a while but I am trying to keep up with the blog entries 🙂

I am HUGE fan of nude lipsticks.  And I think they look even better in the Spring/ Summer time when you dont need to be wearing all that much makeup during the day.  Go for a nude lippy during the day and jazz it up then at night with a little berry or red without having to go to much effort.

Celebrities like Kim Kardashian are very fond of the nude lip, and almost always team it with a sexy smoky eye.  I have listed below some of my favourite nude lipsticks and gloss that I am constantly robbing from my own work kit to put in to my own!!

All about Adele!

Well it was all about Adele at last nights Grammy Awards.  Nabbing 6 awards she walked away with Song of th Year, Album of the Year, Short Video of the Year, Performance of the Year, and Pop Vocal Album.   I think she looked amazing donning a sexy red lip and her usual feature of think full lashes and  of course her beautiful Armani gown.

I was also a fan of Carrie Underwood look, and absolutely loved her makeup.  Loving the full lashes x

The SAG’s

I don’t know about you but I felt a lack of glamour looking at the pics from last nights SAG awards. Some of the ladies took big risks and went a little bit on the crazy side I think and didnt do themselves any justice at all. Some of my least faves are below.  I honestly do not know what Busy Phillipps stylist was thinking when they put  her in that dress!!!

Busy Phillips

Rose Byrne

Shailene Woodley

Amber Riley

But then on the other hand the lovely Sofia Vergara, whom I absolutely LOVE, I think was by far the best dressed!  From her hair to her makeup she looked amazing.  I hope I look like that when I am 40!!

Globe Beauty – Charlize Theron

For me by far the most beautiful lady that rocked the red carpet at the Golden Globes was Charlize Theron.  She looked like an absolute goddess!  From her hair ( nor to forget her Cartier hairband!!) to her makeup to her Dior gown, I thought that it looked absolutely stunning and effortless!  Her makeup look was natural looking, radiant and she just glowed! Perfect for any Bride to Be!!

Her Makeup artist was Shane Paish for Dior and he used the following:

  • Skin: Dior L’Or de Vie La Creme, Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation.
  • Eyes: Dior 5-Couleurs Eyeshadow in Garden Roses #841, Diorshow Extase Mascara.
  • Lips: Rouge Dior Lipcolor in Tulip Pink #448, Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in Beige Tweed #227.
  • Cheeks: Diorblush in Pink in Love #889.

To achieve the look with your own foundation you could also use:

Lips – Blankety by MAC

Eyes: All that Glitters by MAC, Great lash mascara by Maybelline

Cheek – Nude peach by Bobbi Brown

And good full shaped brows.

Birdcages II

I know I blog a lot about headpieces and birdcages, but I love them and I love how they look. I just wanted to post some more of my Brides that I have had that went for this look.  Maire and Aislings cage veil were fastened to a hairband whereas Eileen and Gillian below’s pieces are both birdcages and are made by the ever so talented Rebekah Patterson in Kilkenny, who I also got to make a piece for my own wedding. I cannot sing her praises enough.

Back again!!

Ok so I have been soooo bad on the blogging and posting front!  I cant believe that my last blog was from June 😦 so one of my new years resolutions was to get back in to my blogging about everything and anything.  Its been a busy start to the new year and the Brides are out in force after all the engagments over the festive period.  It’s great, and I would love to be doing it all over again!  Well along with all my weddings work related this year, I am delighted to have friends and family weddings to look forward to also.  One of which I am a bridesmaid for , so I guess I will be making the walk down the aisle again lol! But it is all for my dear friend Jacqui and her Fiance Brian!!  Its the 21st of September and the excitment is only fierce!!

I have also been very bold over Christmas, and as me and Brian went on a late honeymoon I also ate and drank too much wine so I am currently signed up with a local Leisure Centre here and doing whats called an ‘8 week challenge’ so its basically gymming and swimming and doing classses and weighing in each week then.  There of course is a weekend away prize at the end, so its always nice to have a bit of incentive!  So with that and bridesmaid for Jacqui its keeping me going so far so good!!

So last year was an amazing year for me , being shortlisted for the WOL awards and just being so busy doing weddings which I have to say is the best part of the makeup world I believe – being part of someones special day! I signed off NYE not only doing makeup but attending my best friend from college Jessica’s wedding.  Which of course I was an emotional wreck for, but could not imagine a better way to finish the year.  But apart from all that – I got married myself! To Brian, my bestie and partner in crime! So its almost a year now in April and I can’t believe it has gone by so quickly!

But this year I intend to write an awful lot more – not only makeup but everything and anything that makes me happy and do more Bridal features too. I have just finished an article for RTE.ie and also a feature for Weddingsonlne – so I really want to get in to doing more of this.   I also am hoping to start up an online little venture, which I will give details of later.

So apart from that, I hope you all had a fantastic Xmas and NY and heres for an even better 2012.

Sharon xx

I recently had the pleasure of doing the makeup for Sharons wedding. Tricia from Munster Mobile hair was the hairstylist for the wedding and as usual worked her wonders!

Sharon and Peter got married in the beautiful setting that is Ballyvolane House in Cork.  I definately think this venue is a hidden gem, it is STUNNING.  I love the feel of it and the idea that its all your own family and friends staying in the one place and no strangers staying as guests.  It reminds me of where I got married myself in Kilshane House.

The photographer for the wedding was Eric Savo – it was my first time meeting him but he definately left an impression and seeing the pics from the big day speak volumes.  He is seriously talented.  Check him out here www.savo.ie .

Some pics of us at work on the day courtesy of Eric:
